Can multi-sport athletes tryout for Texas Legends?
At Texas Legends Volleyball, we support multi-sport athletes and recognize the value of cross-training through different sports. However, we encourage parents to be mindful that participating in multiple sports can create scheduling conflicts and potential burnout for the athlete.
While we have many athletes who play multiple sports, especially in the younger age groups, it is crucial to communicate any scheduling conflicts with your coach to avoid any issues with commitment. We recommend providing a two-day notice for all missed practices and a two-week notice for any missed tournaments.
At Texas Legends Volleyball, we believe in developing well-rounded athletes who can excel in a variety of sports. However, we also prioritize the health and well-being of our athletes, which is why we encourage open communication and transparency when it comes to scheduling conflicts. Are teams pre-selected prior to Tryouts?
No, athletes are not pre-selected for teams prior to tryouts at Texas Legends Volleyball. All players have an equal opportunity to showcase their skills and abilities at tryouts, including returning players.
At Texas Legends Volleyball, we recognize that athletes develop at different rates, and some players may have made significant progress during the previous season. Additionally, committed players often work hard in the off-season to improve their skills, which can impact their performance during tryouts.
While we may have a better understanding of the skill level of returning players, we encourage all new players to attend our various Training Opportunities so that we can get to know them better. By attending our training sessions, new players can showcase their skills and abilities, allowing us to evaluate their potential and find the right fit for them on one of our teams.
At Texas Legends Volleyball, we believe in providing a fair and equal opportunity to all players, regardless of their previous experience or skill level. Our goal is to create a positive and inclusive environment that enables all athletes to reach their full potential on and off the court.

How many players will be on each team?
The typical roster size for a Texas Legends Volleyball team is 9-12 players, but we do not want to limit ourselves to a specific number. Our priority is to create the best possible team for each age group, which may require a slightly larger or smaller roster depending on the needs of the team.
At Texas Legends Volleyball, our focus is on providing athletes with the support, training, and resources they need to achieve their full potential. How often do the teams practice?
- Teams will practice twice a week, generally. (Subject to change)
- We take time off for Christmas Break and most teams will take time for Spring Break so that players can enjoy time with their families. We follow the school schedule for each area, so if you are from Waco playing in Belton and vice versa, please take notice and ask your coach. For most teams, we try to avoid playing on Easter weekend as well. However, that is not always possible for some National teams.
How long does the season last?
Our season begins the last week of November, at the conclusion of the UIL High School Volleyball State Tournament for all our team levels. The end of the season generally concludes in April, depending on tournament schedule. For National teams, the season would conclude at the end of June or early July.
Do you guarantee playing time?
At Texas Legends Volleyball, we prioritize providing athletes with quality practice time and instruction from our qualified coaches, rather than guaranteeing playing time in tournaments. We do guarantee a fair amount of playing time for every player, but not necessarily an equal amount.
We believe that playing time is earned through hard work and dedication. Athletes who attend practice regularly and show improvement in their skills will have more opportunities to play. Our coaches are encouraged to give every player a chance to contribute to the team during pool play matches. As teams advance beyond pool play, coaches will reward players who have excelled when given opportunities earlier in the day.
Please note that the amount of playing time for each player is at the coach's discretion and may not be equal for all players. Our priority is to create a positive and inclusive environment that supports the growth and development of our athletes both on and off the court.

How do I handle conflict should it arise?
At Texas Legends Volleyball, we understand that conflicts may arise during the season. In such cases, we have a three-step process to help resolve any issues that may arise.
The first step is for the player to communicate directly with their coach to discuss the issue. If this does not resolve the problem, the second step is to arrange a meeting with the coach, player, and parent. We believe that open communication and transparency are essential to resolving conflicts effectively.
In the rare event that a resolution is not reached after the first two steps, the final step is to set up a meeting with the club director, coach, player, and parent. Please note that meetings will not be scheduled without the player present.
We believe that emotional maturity is an essential aspect of resolving conflicts effectively. We encourage all parties involved to exercise emotional maturity, which includes the ability to take a step back and assess the situation objectively. Allow 48 hours for emotions to settle and reach out for a meeting so that a productive discussion can take place. By approaching conflicts with a level head, we can find a fair and equitable resolution while ensuring that the focus remains on the growth and development of our athletes.
At Texas Legends Volleyball, we are committed to providing a positive and inclusive environment that supports the growth and development of our athletes. By following these steps, we aim to address any conflicts that may arise in a fair and respectful manner.

How much are your fees for the 2024/25 season?
- The fees cover the cost of gym rental, equipment, tournament entry fees, uniforms, coaches' salaries, and administrative fees. All TLVC players will have access to a college recruiting director. Fees do not include: USAV or AAU registration, airfare, hotels, food, any ground transportation to and from practice sessions and out-of-town tournaments, shopping, etc.
- Keep in mind that you are signing a contract for a predetermined fee and that payment plans are a courtesy. Contracts are due regardless if the player completes the season. It does not work like a dance class or gymnastics class where you pay for the months that you attend.
